Menthol

[ Scientific name —Menthol ]

Menthol is a compound distilled from the oil of mint plants. 

Menthol present skin wound healing activity by modulating the antioxidant system of the cells and the inflammatory response, in addition to stimulating epithelialization and also improves the flow of blood to the area, causing a temporary plumping effect.

Applied topically, ingested or inhaled, it produces a pleasant, cooling sensation by blocking the calcium current along the nerves responsible for detecting temperature. 

Menthol is also an antibacterial that cleanses and protects against infection.
